Pomonte is a small town, a hamlet of the municipality of Marciana, located on the western coast of the island of Elba. Nestled in the largest valley on the island and framed by Mount Capanne, this town has origins dating back to the Etruscan era. Before adopting a tourist vocation, this town based its wealth on mining production, particularly iron, granite processing and wine production. Its coast is characterized by a cliff that drops steeply to the sea and therefore makes it quite wild compared to other areas of the island of Elba. Pomonte beach is therefore located in the westernmost part of the island of Elba, is about 90 meters long and is made up of gravel and pebbles smoothed by the sea. The sea water is crystal clear and its bottom is shallow. This feature also makes it suitable for children. Pomonte beach is exposed to westerly winds and is recommended to visit when Grecale or Levante winds blow. The fairly mild climate allows you to bathe even in the months preceding the strictly summer months. The sunsets in Pomonte are very suggestive as the sun ends its course by diving behind Corsica. Pomonte Beach offers a variety of amenities including free parking, sunbed and umbrella rentals, bars, restaurants, and windsurfing. For those who enjoy scuba diving, just a few meters from the shore lies the wreck of the Elviscott, a merchant ship sunk in 1972 and lying on a seabed only 16 meters deep.

What to do, see and eat in Pomonte
In addition to the sea and the beautiful beach, Pomonte offers many reasons of interest for a more in-depth visit. Between baths in its sea you can enjoy at the many restaurants typical products of the area, especially wines such as Aleatico and Moscato obtained from very selected grapes. Typical dishes include squid ink risotto and spaghetti with totani sauce. Other typical products are honey, aromatic herbs and some liqueurs produced on site. In Pomonte you can visit the church of Santa Lucia or choose to hike on Mount Capanne thanks to the presence of numerous paths that start from the town. These routes are very suitable for cycling enthusiasts. Finding accommodation in Pomonte is not a problem as there are many facilities right near the beach such as hotels or even areas equipped for campsites. The town also has a bank, a post office, a pharmacy, and a tourist medical service that is always open.

How to get to the beach
Getting to Pomonte Beach is very easy. Following the western ring that is around Mount Capanne, it is sufficient to deviate from the small square of the Church of Pomonte and then descend towards the sea. Right near the beach is the parking lot. Furthermore, Pomonte is also connected to neighboring towns thanks to a local bus service.
