Beach features

Patresi beach is a small cove located at the end of the valley of the same name, under the Punta Polveraia lighthouse in the municipality of Marciana. It extends for about 150 meters and is composed of granite gravel and rocks. Well hidden from prying eyes, Patresi Beach is a veritable beach resort; it offers a few amenities, such as sunbed and umbrella rentals, showers, and a small bar and restaurant located at the beginning of the beach on a concrete platform. Tourists can easily stop on the veranda while sipping a cold drink or enjoying a refreshing meal. There is also a molt on the beach equipped with a comfortable and safe ladder. Bathers here will be able to have fun and dive into the sea, being able to climb back up to the pier without any difficulty. Its wild appearance, facing Corsica, marries the clean, crystal-clear waters of the sea; a true oasis of tranquility and relaxation tempered by currents and breezes that touch the western coast. The beautiful seabed is populated by numerous species of fish, crustaceans and marine flora. Highly popular with snorkeling enthusiasts, they are especially popular with spearfishers. In the depths of these waters, several ancient amphorae belonging to the Etruscan, Punic and Roman populations have been found. On clear days, the island of Corsica and Capraia can be seen from Patresi beach. From here, you can admire spectacular and romantic sunsets.

Legend, myths and tradition
Patresi beach is marked by several stories, including the myth of the Green Ray. According to a Scottish legend, the first man to see the Green Ray, the last ray of sunshine before its sunset over the sea, will know the truth present in his heart and that of others. He who sees her will be only the chosen one, the only one who will be able to welcome him and listen to him in his heart. Patresi beach is also an ideal wedding venue. There are several couples who decide to pronounce the fateful "yes" on the seashore of this beautiful beach.

How to get to the beach
The beach can be easily reached from La Guardia, a hamlet of Patresi. It only takes a few minutes by car, following the "sea" sign, and immediately after that, simply take a downhill road of about a kilometer and a half that runs alongside the Punta Polveraia lighthouse. You can easily park your car here; a little further on, you can also park inside a paid parking lot. The beach can also be reached via the local bus service in the hamlet of Patresi, and during the summer, the Marebus service operated by the Municipality of Marciana also serves passengers who must travel from the beach to nearby hamlets.
