Tourism in Marina di Campo
Marina di Campo is the largest beach on the island of Elba, with its kilometer and a half of marine beauty every year populated by thousands of tourists, who want to spend their summer holidays here. It is suitable for both families and groups of young people, who populate the beach especially in the months of July and August. There are many beachfront establishments where you can rent deckchairs and umbrellas or have a drink, but there are also large free areas. The beauty of this beach is all in its very white sand, which glistens under the sun's rays, and which characterizes the delightful cove of the gulf. Its glow is due to endless fragments of granite, a material that was extracted in quantity on this part of the island. If you imaginarily divide the beach into 2, on the right the seabed is shallow, so much so that you can walk with the water level always just above your knees for tens of meters. That's the favorite part for families with small children, who here find themselves in a sort of natural pool, with relatively warm waters. Behind the beach is lush Mediterranean scrub with the adjacent pine forest. The pine forest itself is equipped with games for children and is ideal for a walk among the cool trees on scorching summer afternoons. The pine forest not far from the beach has been present here for centuries, and its trees are therefore of historical importance for the place. On the left side of Marina di Campo beach, on the other hand, the seabed is deeper and lends itself to very interesting diving. Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts here find the ideal place for their underwater excursions.
For those who want to admire a peculiarity of the Marina di Campo seabed, they can dive near the Scoglio della Triglia, where there is an evocative statue of the Madonna that many approach to pay homage. For water sports enthusiasts, you can rent windsurf boards, SUPs and canoes. The advice is to also take a scenic ride with a pedal boat, pushing up to the nearby beaches of Capo Fonza and Galenzana, which have rocky and sandy bottoms respectively. Not far away there is also a small port that does not disturb swimmers and which is useful for docking pleasure boats even for tourists who request it. This is where old fishermen also gather, taking advantage of the abundance of aquatic fauna. The sea on Marina di Campo beach is crystal clear on the shore and further out it takes on colors ranging from turquoise to emerald green, especially on mistral days. The water is clean and the beach is very well maintained, despite being the largest on the island and also the most popular. Marina di Campo also offers entertainment in the various venues that populate every summer evening, especially for young people. It will also be pleasant to walk a few steps from the shoreline or venture into the narrow streets and small squares of the village.
