Beach features
Elba Island is a true paradise for sea lovers, full of magnificent beaches where you can spend your summer days. One of the most beautiful is undoubtedly La Fenicia beach, Blue Flag since 2014, located in the northwestern area of the island near Marciana Marina. It is a magnificent establishment that stands right next to the Torre degli Appiani, an ancient monument dating back to the 15th century that is today the symbol of the town. La Fenicia is about 100 meters long, along which there are two bathing establishments fully equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, toilets and showers, so as to make the experience as comfortable as possible. There is also a small bar, where you can buy cold drinks, ice cream, sandwiches, and other snacks, so you can easily spend the whole day at the beach without having to travel for meals. In the middle, however, there is a small free area. The coast is characterized by large rounded pebbles, crystal-clear water, and a pleasant mixture of blue-green hues created by the rocks. The bottom is quite deep, so if you are with children it is not recommended to let them enter the water alone. On in the water is not very convenient on the stretch of open beach, but the two establishments offer a wooden and a concrete platform respectively to facilitate the enterprise.
Activities and Events on the beach
La Fenicia beach has a wonderful seabed full of life, so it is the ideal destination for those who love snorkeling. However, you must leave already equipped, as there are no rental services at hand, or alternatively purchase or rent the necessary equipment at the Diving Center in town. There is also a center where you can rent kayaks and have a fun experience in the very clear waters of the Island of Elba. Although there are no events on the beach, the town hosts the annual Patronal Feast of Santa Chiara on August 11th and 12th. It is a unique opportunity to participate in a great local celebration and admire the procession with the statue of Saint Clare. To conclude, on the 12th at midnight there is the fantastic fireworks display, synchronized in time with music. Another fun event you can attend takes place on June 11th, and that's the Leg Cutter. This is a running and cycling race open to anyone who wants to join. The summer entertainment doesn't end there, as there are truly countless parties that liven up the beautiful village. The Mediterranean Festival takes place from June 21st to 26th, with a traditional market where you can buy local handicrafts and gastronomy. Then there are many dance and theatre shows and concerts, among which we can mention the Tribfestival, which is usually held on the third weekend of July. Those who choose La Fenicia for their holidays on this beautiful island of Tuscany, therefore, certainly cannot be bored. Finally, don't forget to get a camera, as you can capture wonderful sunsets with the ancient tower in the background.
