One of the most beautiful beaches on the island
Overlooking the southwestern coast of Elba Island, Fetovaia beach is rightly considered one of the most evocative in the whole of Elba. Golden sand, stunning white granite cliffs, and waters with fantastic emerald highlights welcome tourists at the end of a short cove surrounded on both sides by modest reliefs, protecting the area from currents. The lido has the appearance of a pearl set in a beautiful natural setting, in which the dominant color is the intense green of the surrounding vegetation. Fetovaia beach extends at the top of a narrow gulf for over 300 meters in length and in its widest stretch reaches 40 meters in width. To the west, it is protected by a strip of land that juts out into the sea for several hundred meters, completely covered in lush vegetation. The best days to frequent this fantastic beach are those during which the northwesterly winds blow. The area is protected, in fact, by Mount Cenno, located immediately to the north and able to separate it from the Tramontana and the Maestrale, and by the modest hills located to the west, which protect it from the winds of the West and Libeccio and favor a mild and pleasant microclimate even during the winter period. The Sirocco is the only wind that stirs the sea and disturbs its usual transparency. Fetovaia beach is perfect for families with children thanks to the gently sloping seabed and the calm waters, elements that make this stretch of coast a true paradise. Precisely because of the beauty of its surroundings and the transparency and colors of its waters, the beach is often crowded with tourists and bathers. Some beach resorts offer food service, bars, pedal boat rentals, deckchairs, and umbrellas.
There is also a surf school on site. Those who want to escape the typical crowds of the months of July and August may prefer a more secluded spot, namely the large and comfortable granite slabs located immediately to the left of the beach, visible after the small boat launch and perfect for enjoying the rays of the summer sun in complete tranquility.
How to get to the beach
The beach is located 8 km from Marina di Campo, on the southwest coast of Elba Island. The area is easily accessible by car and, especially during the summer, is well served by public bus service. Anyone wishing to reach the beach from Marina di Campo must take Provincial Road 25 towards Cavoli-Fetovaia-Pomonte, then take the well-marked detour and travel the last kilometer, at the end of which there is a convenient parking lot not far from the beach. Parking is also free during the summer months, however, its size allows only a limited number of cars to park. A little further on you can also find a second paid parking lot. In any case, to avoid any difficulties, it is recommended to leave early. Those coming from Portoferraio must first reach Marina di Campo, then continue on the SP25.
