Beach features
Chiessi is a small town, a hamlet of the municipality of Marciana, located on the western coast of the island of Elba, which faces the coast of Corsica. In the past, Chiessi's economy was based on wine production and pastoralism. Subsequently, the tourism sector developed. Chiessi beach is located on the wider Costa del Sole, is 80 meters long and is made up of light gray pebbles smoothed by the sea. On this beach there is a large expanse of smooth, flat granite rocks. These rocks are suitable for sunbathing or diving. Chiessi beach is exposed to southerly winds that always blow a light breeze in summer. On Grecale or Levante days, your stay on this beach reaches the ideal time. This area is excellent for windsurfers thanks to the constant presence of wind. The transparency of the sea is exceptional and the colorful, fish-rich seabed is suitable for diving to discover marine flora and fauna. The bottom is shallow and makes this beach suitable for children too. Chiessi Beach offers some amenities such as bars, restaurants and a landing lane. The panorama it offers is magnificent, from here in fact the view ranges from the island of Pianosa to Corsica. Furthermore, here the sunsets know how to give unique colors and atmospheres. A little further north of Chiessi beach are some pristine and wild coves that are only reached by sea.
What to do and see in Chiessi beyond the beach
Accommodation in Chiessi is not problematic as the accommodation offer meets all needs. In addition to the sea, you can choose to take small excursions around Chiessi, especially climbing the mountain to discover the Campo delle Serre traffic light. It is a telegraph station built in 1888 over the remains of a watchtower dating back to the 16th century. This tower, built in a very isolated area, allowed you to observe Corsica, the islands of Pianosa and Capraia.
How to get to the beach
Chiessi beach is easily accessible. In fact, it is located practically in front of the town, 150 meters from the center. It can also be reached by public transport. In summer, the municipality of Marciana offers the Marebus service, which connects the town to all the surrounding hamlets and beaches.
