Barabarca beach, composed of sand and pebbles, is well known throughout the island of Elba and is one of the closest to the center of Capoliveri. It is also known for being one of the most beautiful in the entire Stella Gulf.
I like it because, unlike other beaches in this area, it keeps its pristine charm intact. You won't find any beach resorts, restaurants, or special attractions here, but nature and peace, a simple and perfect place to spend a day at the beach.
Once you leave your car in the dedicated parking lot, walking a few meters on a flat dirt road, you reach the steps leading to the beach (this steep staircase is not accessible to people with mobility disabilities). During the summer Barabarca is also reached by a Shuttle Bus.
Before starting the descent, it is a must to stop and admire the beauty of the landscape, at least the time to take a photograph. From above, this place is even more striking for the contrast between the white color of the sand and the emerald blue of the sea, but also for the richness of vegetation composed of the typical shrubs of the Mediterranean scrub, with their unmistakable scent. Precisely because of its particular conformation, Barabarca beach is very sheltered, both from winds and currents: it is an area where the sea is usually very calm.
It is a beach suitable both for families with children, who can play near the shore without danger, and for those seeking tranquility: walking along the rocks, in fact, you come across some very small coves where, even in summer, you can be alone.
The seabed is full of small shallows and poseidonia where fish usually stay, which is precisely why Barabarca beach is much loved by snorkelers.
Behind the beach there is a bar that, in addition to offering snacks for lunch and snacks, offers the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas for those who want to enjoy all the relaxation of the sea and sun but without running the risk of getting sunburned!
There is also a rental service for pedal boats and other small boats to explore the surrounding area.
