Located in the wide gulf of Portoferraio, Bagnaia beach is one of the most complete destinations on the Island of Elba. Divided between the municipalities of Portoferraio and Rio, this location offers the perfect balance between the convenience of an equipped beach and the charm of an authentic seaside village.
Characteristics of the Beach and Bottom
Bagnaia is a beach of about 300 meters, composed mainly of smooth pebbles mixed with sand. The sea, clear and with colors that fade from turquoise to deep blue, is particularly calm when the south winds blow (Scirocco). Thanks to its many services, it is considered one of the best beaches on Elba for families and those who want to have everything at their fingertips.
What to do in Bagnaia: Sailing, Kayaking, and Snorkeling
Bagnaia is a true point of reference for lovers of the active sea:
Sailing Center and Nautical Schools: The bay is home to renowned sailing schools and diving centers, making it the ideal place to learn to sail or dive.
Boat and Kayak Rental: From here you can rent a boat or kayak to explore the nearby wild coves accessible only by sea, such as Zupignano or Le Grotte.
Sunset Aperitif: Bagnaia is famous for being one of the island's privileged "balconies." From here you can admire the sun setting exactly behind the Medici fortresses of Portoferraio, painting the sky with incredible colors.
Services and Convenience
Choosing Bagnaia beach means enjoying every comfort:
Bathing establishments: Large areas equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and showers.
Restaurants and Seaside Bars: The seafront is full of places to enjoy typical Elban cuisine just steps from the water.
Accessibility: The beach is easily accessible by car and has ample parking (both free and paid). It is also connected by a scheduled service and, in summer, by a convenient boat service (boat-taxi) from Portoferraio.
